The revolutionary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology, was introduced in 2002. The Polar Express

was released in 2004 and it was the first full length film to be converted to IMAX 3D. The movie shattered the box office records and became the highest grossing digitally re-mastered film and it grossed over $60 million on under 100 movie screens. In 2006 IMAX reached another milestone when they released Superman Returns. It was the first live action movie which had scenes converted into IMAX 3D. They used the Company's live action 2D to 3D conversion technology. This version received much praise and shattered many box offices around the world. IMAX and it's partners has released more than 20 event titles in the IMAX theater network worldwide.

IMAX has announced that they have three of the most anticipated movies in 2007 which were released in IMAX theaters. These movies were 300, Spider-Man 3, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Each of these movies included about 20 minutes of live-action IMAX 3D.

There are over 280 IMAX theaters located in 40 countries around the world, and still growing. They have had around 0ne billion customers in their theaters. IMAX is closely associated with Regal Cinemas, Inc., National Amusements, Inc., AMC Entertainment, Inc., Muvico Theaters, Inc., Yelmo Cineplex, CJ CGV, Lark International Multimedia, and many other regional operators. In October, 2007, the company announced that they were going to move up the launch date for the digital projection system and it would be launched in the second quarter of 2008. The movie business just keeps expanding and improving everyday and it is thanks to companies like IMAX that make it happen.
